Top Celebrity Real Estate Deals of 2012
Leave your thoughtsCelebrity homes come and go on the real estate market. One day, a big name comedian owns a mansion and the next day, a rising starlet is the new proud owner. This isn’t news in Hollywood, but as New Years Eve of 2013 approaches take a look at some of the biggest celebrity real estate deals of 2012.
1. Joan Rivers’ NYC penthouse apartment is going $29.5 million.
The 5,190-square-foot apartment is located on the Upper East Side. It’s got four bedrooms and five baths. It also features a private elevator entry hall, two wood-burning fireplaces, 23-foot ceilings, a large corner library and a formal dining room. The stunning views are of non other than Central Park.
Consider this place the NYC apartment that feels like a free-standing mansion.
2. Elvis’ former Beverly Hills home on sale for $12.9 million.
The price may not be as steep as some others, however, the reputation and fame of the former owner is undeniable. When we talk about celebrity home premiums, Elvis takes the cake, or should we say the peanut butter and banana sandwich.
Fans of the “King” still visit the property from all over the world. The four bedroom, five bathroom estate sits on a 1.18 acres and features stunning views of Los Angeles, California.
Though it’s no Graceland, the home of the “King” will certainly fetch a good price on the market.
3. Alicia Keys and husband Swizz Beats buy Eddie Murphy’s mansion for $14.9 million.
Murphy’s former mansion sits on 3.91 acres in Englewood, N.J. and has its own full-sized recording studio. It features a two-lane bowling alley, indoor swimming pool, racquetball court, wooden spa and elevators.
The home has been on the market for some time and the real estate rumor mills suggest that Keys is buying the house for $12 million, which isn’t too shabby of a discount.
Good thing there’s a lot of room for Egypt, Key’s son, to run around and play in, and perhaps even the next members of the Keys family.
4. Jay-Z and Beyonce rent a $400,000 a month Hampton’s home.
The Bridgehampton, N.Y., mansion was rented for the summer by Bey and Jay, perhaps to get away from the stresses of getting this summer’s Barclays Arena construction.
The home sits on an 11-acre property and has a bowling alley, movie theater, skateboard half-pipe (maybe they want to invite Lil Wayne over?) and rock climbing wall. There’s also a spa, indoor Jaccuzzi and so much more.
The whopping price tag is nothing to hip-hop’s power couple, but the high renter’s fee makes this real estate deal one of the craziest of the year.
There you have it, the biggest celeb deals of 2012. Whether it’s the name or the property, these are some big sales. Let’s see what 2013 has to bring when it comes to Hollywood real estate!
